The Legend about Łokietek- the King Wladyslaw Łokietek had to escape from Cracow as he was endangered by Władysław Czeski. According to the legend he found a shelter in one of the caves in Ojców. Łokietek was saved by a spider’s web by which the entrance to the cave was covered. The Władysław’s knight thought that if the spider’s web was still there, nobody could have got inside. To memorize the fact that the future king was in the cave, the cave was named Grota Łokietka. The Secondary School - founded in 1949: the patron - W. Łokietek. Since 2002 - The Secondary School on the foundation of the Junior High School education consists of 6 forms. There are 19 teachers in the school. The School plays an important part in the local community. The pupils take part very actively in everyday life of the community; they prepare performances to commemorate national anniversaries.

 

 

The legend of Lokietek


Władyslaw Lokietek had to run away from Cracow as he was threatened by Waclaw Czeski. According to the myth he found the shelter in one of the caves in Ojcow. This cave was chosen , because it was nearby the border with Silesia. It was Silesia where help for the prince was supposed to come from. Lokietek was saved by the cobweb which was placed at the entrance to the cave.Waclaw's knights thought there was nobody inside as the cobweb was left untouched. The prince was in touch with Cracow thanks to the mail pigeons.The cave was named Lokietek cave to commemorate the king's -to-be staying there.
